doublebridle:

Kelso, 16.3 ½ hh 1998 Thoroughbred gelding, FREE to good, approved home. Located an hour east of St. Paul, MN, in Wisconsin.

Arthritis in hocks and neck. Injected hocks last fall, comes out stiff in cold/wet weather but is sound in warmer weather and after a good warmup. Should NOT be jumped, should NOT be asked to collect, but could still be ridden lightly. Responds well to daily joint supplements.

Barefoot, an average to difficult keeper (I’d recommend free choice hay with grain to supplement), gentle and sweet, knows his manners. I’d trust this horse with anything on the ground. He can be a little scatterbrained and spooky under saddle.

I do not need to sell him or give him away. I have the means to take care of him for the rest of his life. But if someone knows of a place he could live out the rest of his days in comfort just being a horse, please let me know. Kelso is my darling boy, and while I can and will keep him until the end, I have to think about my limited funds and how I need a horse I can ride if I ever want to grow as a rider.

I was told to send him to the local auction house through the kill pen by a trusted friend, but I have too much of a heart and would never allow him to be treated like anything but the king he is. I’m saying this again: If I cannot find him a suitable pasture puff/light riding home, I will keep him, no problem. But I have to try.

Please reblog and spread the word, if you can. Thank you!
